When creating our Sonoma wine tours, we kept a few things in mind. We want our guests to truly enjoy a comfortable ride, taste delicious wines of the area, experience an amazing lunch from a local restaurant, and learn about the wineries and history of the area. While the wineries we visit may vary with each season, we always visit four premium wineries for private tastings during our Sonoma wine tours. We’d love to introduce you to Mayo Family Winery.

Mayo Family Winery 3A small family owned winery located in the heart of the Sonoma Valley, Mayo Family believes that single vineyard wines make for the most interesting and satisfying drinking. Since the early 1990’s they’ve constantly looked for vineyards that provide a great match between terroir and varietal. The result is an array of small batch, single-vineyard wines that meet that criteria. Whether the vineyard is in Sonoma or Napa, or their own estate, the pledge to you is that they’ll produce a collection of wines that are always interesting, always compelling and delicious. By making over 20 varietals of wine there is something you can find that fits your taste at Mayo.

Founded in 1993, the winery has two winemaking facilities in Glen Ellen, California each fitted and equipped to produce particular wines from their large portfolio. You can’t find Mayo Family wines in stores, currently they are only sold online and in their tasting room. Not being able to get them anywhere and everywhere, gives you an exclusive experience when you join our wine tour. You’ll have access to wines that you can only buy onsite and you’ll be able to find something that many other people have never tried before.

Mayo Family WineryIn addition to classic varieties like Chardonnay and Zinfandel, they also produce harder to find wines such as Carignane and Petite Sirah. The winery produces over 25 wines annually from over 15 different varietals. While visiting, also enjoy the critically acclaimed Mayo Family Winery Reserve Room, which features gourmet food pairing with their world class reserve wines.

Each guest takes a seat in a comfortable and intimate room where you can enjoy wine-inspired art, music and views of the hillside vineyards of Kenwood located just out the window. You are then treated to a seven-course pairing menu that includes seven Mayo Family Reserve wines crafted by Winemaker Michel Berthoud and seven artisan bites created and prepared by Chef Sam Frumpkin to complement each wine. The Mayo Family Reserve Room is an opportunity to delve further into the wine and food experience that defines Wine Country.

Their typical tasting offers include a “Premium Tasting” that includes six familiar wines to the area for $10 or a unique “Adventure Tasting” with nine lesser known varieties for $15.
